Knowing nothing more then being wheelchair dependent all of my life due to my Cerebral Palsy, I’ve been left with no choice but to accept the limitations and endure what seemed at the time to be endless amounts of discomfort from the limited selection of wheelchairs the NHS could offer.

After a change in my circumstances, I made the decision earlier this year to explore my options in the way of a privately funded motorised wheelchair. Being new to the world of privately funded equipment and having no clue where to start I turned to my case manager Sam Harris who initiated contact with Rehabilitate Therapy Ltd. It was at this point I was introduced to Sara Grimshaw who came out to my home and asked me what I wanted from a wheelchair. This was all very new and exciting as I had never been asked my preferences in regards to a wheelchair before so was unsure if everything I wanted was even possible. Following her visit, she liased with Newlyn who confirmed all my requests could be met and following a seating assessment a few weeks later with a few of their representatives they began to build my wheelchair.

Fast forward to now – the end of August I have my new wheelchair and whilst it is all still really new to me, I’m really enjoying my new found independence, I can now enjoy life with dramatically reduced pain levels and a much better posture, I have to say my favourite feature on my chair although they are all pretty awesome is the seat lift as I’m now able to access areas of my home independently where I needed assistance to do so before.

Overall I’ve had a fantastic experience and the support I’ve received has been amazing.

I have a hard time meeting new people which Sara was made aware of by Sam upon meeting me, however I loved the way in which Sara spoke to me, I felt listened to and completely validated and was never made to feel like an inconvenience when I thought of questions and sent impromptu texts. She was absolutely amazing with me, understanding me and reassuring me through the whole process.

The service from Newlyn was great too as although not everything was perfect on delivery, they did send someone out two days later to resolve the issues.

I can honestly say that the purchase of my new wheelchair along with the excellent service from all parties involved is one of the best decisions I’ve made.

I have no hesitation in recommending Newlyn Healthcare. They are a company who have excellent product knowledge that I have found invaluable when selecting specialist seating, moving and handling equipment and specialist shower chairs for patients I work with. There are many products on the market and Newlyn provides a wide range of choice. Newlyn is run with genuine customer care, professionalism and integrity.

As a Physiotherapist working in the field of Adult Learning Disabilities postural care concerns a huge proportion of my working life. I would definitely recommend working with Lee and the rest of the team at NH Specialist equipment. They have proven themselves to be professional and approachable. Lee takes the time to get to know the service users and their needs, the opinions of the carers and the aims of the therapy team. He and the rest of the team have proven themselves to be very knowledgeable in the field of postural care in particular specialist seating/armchairs. They also have a large variety of chairs available for assessment which saves having to go to the individual companies. He explains his rationale but I never feel that there is a “hard sell”. If your area rep is unavailable they send an alternative in order to try and meet the appointment requirements of the service user.I have always been able to contact someone from the team in a swift and timely manner. Lee has managed to achieve seating options for some extremely complex service users.

Finally, the aftercare cannot be faulted. NH Specialist equipment are readily available post purchase to assist in ironing out those inevitable teething problems that go hand in hand with the postural care needs of complex clients.”

Also just to let you know Harry`s mum said he is delighted with the chair, he is also comfortable and relaxed in it that his behaviours have improved (Harry is a head banger and rocker when he gets distressed). So its nice to get this feedback.
